SEA FREIGHT UPDATE

Update on the Red Sea situation

January 8, 2024

We encourage our clients to send their smaller orders by air freight. Our forwarders continue to avoid the Red Sea route for the safety of vessels, crew and cargo.

Most sea freight from China to Europe is routed via the Cape of Good Hope, a longer way. This will impact your supply chain, adding at least 10 days and an Emergency Cost Recovery Surcharge (ECR) of at least USD 1500 per container.

Let's see after the Lunar New Year break if the situation in the Red Sea region has improved on maritime security.

Depending on freight volume and weight, we recommend using express services and air freight for now. We can work on sea, air and express rate comparisons for optimal shipping planning with you and manage freight bookings, documents and tracking, as usual.
