      Sea freight rates

Between China and Rotterdam - Feb. 2023

The sea freight rate between China and Rotterdam has seen an overall increasing trend in the last 3 years. In 2020, the cost of shipping a 40-foot steel container from Shanghai to Rotterdam was $10,522, a 547% increase from 2019. In 2021, the average rate remained high, though there was a slight decrease in the second half of the year. This year, the cost of shipping the same container has decreased slightly, but still remains much higher than 2019 levels.

According to data from iContainers, the current sea freight rates for a 40ft container from China to Rotterdam range from $1,823.50 to $2,109.90. This is based on the type of container, the origin and destination ports, and the current market conditions. Additionally, there are additional charges, such as port fees and fuel surcharges, which must be taken into account when calculating the total cost of a shipment.

Ideally, work with a local partner to manage production and logistics process - POTKETEL is in China.
